Ingredients

Cream cheese mixture
  • 16 oz cream cheese Soften to room temperature for a smooth, lump-free base.
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree Use plain pumpkin puree for best flavor and color.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sweetens and helps thicken the dip.
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice Adds classic fall spices.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Boosts the warm spice aroma.
  • 1 tsp vanilla Rounds out the flavor.
  • 8 oz whipped topping (Cool Whip) Thawed for easy folding without streaks.
  • 0.5 cup caramel sauce For decorative swirling on top before serving.
Dippers
  • graham crackers Serve for scooping.
  • apple slices Fresh crunch with the sweet dip.
  • ginger snaps Spiced cookies add contrast.
  • pretzels Salty crunch balances the sweetness.
  • vanilla wafers Sweet, crisp dippers for layering flavor.

Method

Make the pumpkin cream cheese base
  1. Beat the cream cheese until completely smooth. Scrape the bowl as needed so there are no visible lumps.
  2. Add pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and vanilla, then beat until fully combined. The mixture should look uniformly orange with no dry sugar pockets.
  3. Fold in the whipped topping until no streaks remain. Stop as soon as it’s evenly mixed for the fluffiest texture.
Chill and finish
  1. Spread the dip into a serving bowl, smoothing the top. Refrigerate for 1 hour to set the texture.
  2. Just before serving, swirl caramel sauce decoratively over the top. Use a spoon or drizzle tool for thin, curving lines.
  3. Serve with the graham crackers, apple slices, ginger snaps, pretzels, and vanilla wafers arranged around the bowl. Arrange for easy dipping and keep the dip chilled until serving time.

Notes

Pro tip: soften the cream cheese fully and scrape the bowl during beating for a silk-smooth dip (no grainy texture). Refrigerate in a covered container up to 3 days; do not freeze for best texture. For a lighter option, use reduced-fat cream cheese and a lighter whipped topping (texture will be slightly less firm).
